Juan Quezada, a resident of Mata Ortiz in Chihuahua, Mexico, has recreated the prehistoric method of making pottery used by the Casas Grandes people of Paquime, 700 years ago. Juan has passed along his knowledge to sisters, brothers and others in the pueblo.

The art of pottery making has become a significant source of income for a majority of Mata Ortiz residents. Mata Ortiz potters have explored new styles and techniques resulting in a dynamic new art movement melding traditional and contemporary designs.

Today, Mata Ortiz pottery is collected by people all over the world. Here is the chance to start your own collection.
